Der Cruiser\nim Old-Fashioned-Style wird von einem neu entwickelten Zwei-Zylinder-Boxermotor\nmit 1802 Kubikzentimetern Hubraum angetrieben. Er \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt 91 PS (67 kW) \u00fcber\ndie offen liegende Kardanwelle ans Hinterrad. Die Spitzenleistung wird bei 4750\nUmdrehungen pro Minute erreicht. Zwischen 2000 und 4000 Touren liegen permanent\n\u00fcber 150 Newtonmeter Drehmoment an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BMW zitiert als Vorbild gerne die R 5 von 1936. Der Motor der R 18 h\u00e4ngt in einem klassischen Doppelschleifen-Rohrrahmen aus Stahl, auf ein elektronisch verstellbares Fahrwerk wurde bewusst verzichtet. Die Federung erfolgt \u00fcber eine Teleskopgabel sowie ein direkt angelenktes Zentralfederbein mit wegabh\u00e4ngiger D\u00e4mpfung und verstellbarer Vorspannung. Die 49-Millimeter-Standrohre sind mit Gabelh\u00fclsen verkleidet. F\u00fcr die Verz\u00f6gerung sind vorne eine Doppelscheibenbremse und hinten eine Einscheibenbremse verantwortlich. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Modern zeigt sich die R 18 mit den drei serienm\u00e4\u00dfigen Fahrmodi \u201eRain\u201c, \u201eRock\u201c und \u201eRoll\u201c. Auch eine automatische Stabilit\u00e4tskontrolle ist mit an Bord. Als Sonderausstattung sind unter anderem eine R\u00fcckfahr- und eine Berganfahr-Hilfe erh\u00e4ltlich sowie die Lackierung mit klassischer doppelter Zierlinie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
