Das als SUV-Pionier gefeierte Modell erschien vor 30 Jahren\nund spielte auch als Technologietr\u00e4ger eine Vorreiterrolle. Mittlerweile wurden\nvon der Baureihe in f\u00fcnf Generationen weltweit mehr als 14 Millionen Fahrzeuge\nverkauft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RAV4 \u2013 das steht f\u00fcr \u201eRecreational Active Vehicle with\n4-wheel drive\u201c, was in etwa Fahrzeug mit Allradantrieb f\u00fcr die aktive Freizeit\nbedeutet. Und so trug die erste Generation (XA 10) auch noch den Zusatz Fun\nCruiser in der Modellbezeichnung. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Er wurde zun\u00e4chst nur als 3,69 Meter kurzer Dreit\u00fcrer angeboten, 1996 kam dann auch der F\u00fcnft\u00fcrer auf den Markt. Im selben Jahr pr\u00e4sentierte Toyota bereits eine batterieelektrische Version des RAV4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

14 Jahre sp\u00e4ter folgte der n\u00e4chste vollelektrische RAV4 in den USA. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war immer war noch immer jeder zweite RAV4 EV der ersten Generation im Alltagseinsatz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2016 war die vierte Generation dann das erste Kompakt-SUV mit Hybridtechnologie. Parallel zum ersten E-Modell hatte Toyota 20 Jahre zuvor auch schon Brennstoffzellenfahrzeuge pr\u00e4sentiert: Der RAV4 FCEV bot mit zwei Kilogramm Wasserstoff eine Reichweite von bis zu 250 Kilometern.
